Cowboy Boots

(Dvd)

Around 1876, America's first cowboy boot was made by boot makers in Kansas. They were very practical for riding horses in big cattle drives from Texas to Kansas. The pointed toe slipped easily into the sturrups, and the heels helped the feet stay in the sturrups if the horse stopped suddenly. Also, the tall boot tops protected against chafing, cactus, and rattlesnakes. The earliest boots were made in either black or dark brown.
